The unexpected results of the tasting, 2 California wines taking the top spot, validated what winemakers in the U.S. knew all along, you could produce beautiful, world class wines from these American estates. Since this time winemaking in the US has taken off, and we are grateful to the pioneers of Virginia wine who have paved the way for our production today.
